Accidents are one of the leading causes of death in the entire world. Roughly, 1.25 million people lose their lives in road accidents each year. About 20-50 million people receive injuries during road accidents and more than half of the victims are young people. It is because people of this age are a bit less careful than those in their forties or fifties. Moreover, advancement in technology has blessed people with the expensive and fast cars, which further increase the chances of getting into an accident.

2.           Over Speeding: 

     Thanks to the rapid advancement in technology and increasing completion in making faster and faster car, our young generation is falling prey to over speeding, which is one of the leading causes of road traffic accidents in the entire world. But specifically, advanced countries are more affected by over speeding because of their advanced technology. People rely on the safety features of cars and drive recklessly, putting the lives of many people at stake.

3.           Driving in Bad Weather: 

      Although we have no control on weather but we can at least drive with extra care in bad weather. Rainfall makes it hard to drive cars on the road because they get slippery and braking efficiency is also reduced. In winters, snowfall makes it even harder to drive cars on the road. According to the statistics obtained from the Department of Transport of the UK, Slippery road surface causes 7,327 accidents per year. 

4.           Distraction in Driving: 

      Distraction while driving leads the accident. As I have already mentioned that driving requires full attention and any distraction in it can lead to accident. There are many forms of distraction like using mobile, receiving calls, talking to other persons in the car, even listening to loud music is a big distraction which causes accidents. 

5.           Drink and Drive: 

      Drunk driving is very dangerous, which results in thousands of car crashes each year. There is a technical term used for drunk driving, which is Driving Under the Influence (DUI). It means that a person gets charged with driving a car while he is under the influence of drugs. There are very strict laws regarding this criminal offence but people still tend to violate these laws which prove disastrous and cause severe accidents.

Observing traffic laws is very essential to prevent yourself from accidents, but it doesn’t necessarily mean that mishaps won’t happen. It is advisable to have yourself under insurance to save your loved ones in a tragedy like road accident. It is also very important to go to driving school to learn proper driving and also get a driving license. Doing so will reduce the number of car crashes happen each year.
